Transforming an Aro Valley garage into a working craft brewery
Garage Project’s Aro Valley brewery began life as a dilapidated car garage before being transformed into the distinctive craft brewery it is known as today.
Scotty’s Construction continued that transformation by creating a large tank room over two stages, providing the space needed for Garage Project’s refrigerated brewing tanks.
Installing the substantial tanks required careful planning and some precise manoeuvring. Cranes and manpower were used to position the large refrigerated vessels onto the concrete slab, ready for connection and use within the brewery.
After completing several smaller projects in between, our team returned to construct the street-facing malt room. This dedicated space provides storage for malt and connects with the front tank room through the pipework used as part of the brewing process.
Working within an established commercial operation requires a practical and coordinated approach, particularly when large equipment, specialist services and existing spaces all need to work together.
The Garage Project build is a good example of Scotty’s Construction applying its construction and project-management experience beyond residential work, helping adapt an existing Aro Valley building to suit the very specific requirements of a working craft brewery.
