An award-winning high-performance home in Greytown
Designed for the Wairarapa’s demanding climate, this Greytown new home combines contemporary architecture with a strong focus on year-round comfort and energy performance.
The owners wanted a home that would perform as beautifully as it looked, so Architecture Robinson Crimp was engaged for its expertise in passive design. The goal was to create a consistent and comfortable indoor temperature throughout the year, rather than having to adapt to Greytown’s seasonal extremes.
High levels of insulation, thermally efficient joinery, triple glazing and a heat exchange system all contribute to the home’s performance. Independent passive modelling also informed refinements to the design, including slightly smaller windows and external Roma blinds to help manage heat gain during summer.
The result is a refined, high-performing home designed to provide exceptional comfort in every season.
The quality of the project was recognised at the 2026 Wellington & Wairarapa Master Builders House of the Year Awards, where it received four awards: Regional Category Winner, Regional Environmental & Sustainable Excellence, Regional PDL Smart Home Award and Regional Gold.
