An award-winning architectural new build in Seatoun Heights
Set along Wellington’s eastern hills, this Seatoun Heights new home was designed to respond closely to its elevated site and expansive coastal outlook.
Designed by Novak + Middleton and built by Scotty’s Construction, the home looks across Cook Strait towards the Kaikoura Ranges of the South Island.
The split-level design follows the contour of the site, while a single roof plane helps maintain a strong connection throughout the length of the building. Inside, interconnected living spaces and timber features create smooth transitions between different levels and family areas.
Delivering an architectural home on a Wellington hillside requires close coordination between the client, architect and construction team. Site conditions, levels, detailing and build methodology all need to be resolved carefully as the project progresses.
For this Seatoun Heights home, that collaborative relationship created an environment where construction methods, details and ideas could be openly discussed and refined throughout the build.
The finished home combines considered architecture with careful craftsmanship and a strong connection to its coastal setting.
The project was recognised at the 2025 Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards, receiving an award for best new home.
